Hi, I'm Vere
I am 24 years old, and I am from Columbus, Ohio. Software and mathematics have always come naturally to me. I am majoring in Computer Science - Data Engineering at Kent State University. I expect to graduate in December of 2021. I began my college education at the University of Akron, pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. While I was on my Co-Op assignment, I realized that I had a greater interest in data and software development. This interest prompted me to change my major to Computer Science. I chose to transfer to Kent State because they had a Data Engineering specialty. I am heartbroken that my undergraduate experience is coming to an end, but I am enthusiastic to "turn the page" and start building my career.
I am pursuing a undergraduate degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Data Engineering from KSU. My expected graduation date is December 2021. I predict that I will graduate with Magna Cum Laude requirements.
I received my high school diploma from OHS in 2016. I graduated as a National Honors Student, AP Scholar with Distinction, and Magna Cum Laude requirements.
I worked at Diebold Nixdorf for a Co-Op work assignment. I worked at DN from January 2018 through January 2020. I primarily worked alongside Software and Electrical Engineers. I gained substantial experience with the C# and Java programming languages and other essential skills such as debugging, testing, and MS Office.
HacKSU is a student-led club at Kent State University focused on teaching and implementing good programming strategies and techniques. HacKSU also hosts a hackathon each year called KHE (Kent Hack Enough). I have been a leader in this club since January of 2021.
I am passionate about software development, and I feel compelled to document my knowledge with the world. I have experience in tutoring and video editing, and therefore I turned to Youtube as the platform for information exchange between myself and my viewers. I have been making tutorial-style videos since January 2020.
For my undergraduate capstone project, my group and I designed an algorithm that identifies trading patterns in historical stock market data. The results of the algorithm get published on a beginner-friendly website. The algorithm is written entirely in C#. The website is powered by NodeJS on Digital Ocean's cloud hosting service. I developed an algorithm that implements the Top-K Query methodology used in many applications today. The algorithm finds the best linear combination of stocks by comparing the stock's earnings per share to the share price. Click here to watch the demonstration of this project.
I worked with big data visualization in this project, by creating an interactive map application that displayed how many Covid-19 cases were reported for each school district in Ohio. Fishing has been a hobby of mine my entire life. I love to get outside and drop a line into the water. Whether I catch something or not, fishing is always a good time to me. I want to go deep-sea fishing one day, but thus far I have stuck to freshwater fishing. My favorite fish to catch is catfish.
I do a lot of the repair work on my car myself. Repair work is not very fun. I have done a couple of performance upgrades to my car that made a difference in how the entire car drives. My favorite car to work on is my dad's 1969 Mach I Mustang.
Video games have always been entertaining to me. I recently built a gaming PC. The process of picking out all the components of the computer and sticking them all together was so intriguing to me. More recently, I have been getting back into older games like Gameboy and Wii games.
